Bridal Party Introductions - Some Tips From a Wedding DJ & MC

Announcing the arrival of your bridal party at your wedding reception is a chance to really set the tone for a huge party! In my time as a wedding DJ & MC I've seen it done a few different ways, but here's a quick rundown on the variations I reckon work best:

THE COUPLES

Each bridal party 'couple' (ie someone from the bride's side and someone from the groom's side) enter one pair at a time, with a song selected specifically with them in mind, making sure they groove their way up to the front of the room. If I'm your wedding DJ & MC, you'll give me some info on every member of your bridal party, and I'll use this to write a fun intro for each of them. Here's an example from a recent wedding:

"Coming through next, she’s been hanging around since day dot for our bride and groom and loves a cocktail or 3, he’s the extremely good looking younger brother, the best dancer in the room and I suspect Steve may have let him write his own intro, let’s hear it for Maddy and Dylan!"

Once all the bridal party couples have come through, we'll get the crowd hyped for for the main event - you guys!

THE CREWS

We'll bring in the bride's side and the groom's side as separate groups, each to their own songs. They'll dance their way into the room, and based on the info you provide to me as your wedding DJ & MC, I'll introduce each member with a fun nickname. Once each group has partied their way up to the front of the room, I'll introduce you both as the crowd goes wild!

WHAT'S NEXT?

If I'm your wedding DJ & MC, I'll be sure to get the crowd together for your bridal party intro's, which means once they're done it can be a great opportunity to launch into another formality, ideally this would be the first round of speeches, but it could also be your first dance, cake cutting, or a wedding game. Once this is done, it's a chance for everyone to grab a drink, chill out for a bit and socialise.
