Marriage Celebrant and Wedding DJ & MC for Bek & Ryan, November 2022

Really cannot overstate how much I enjoyed being Bek and Ryan’s marriage celebrant and wedding DJ for their celebration in the picturesque Perth hills at the stunning Darlington Estate. It was such a pleasure getting to know them, tell their story and party with them, just wish we could’ve partied past midnight! Here’s a section from their ceremony, still cracks me up thinking about it:

I love a good story, so let’s tell the story of how Bek and Ryan came to be engaged, because it’s a good one. They love a hike, so they flew all the way to the Sunshine Coast to go hiking, and presumably some other stuff too. Despite how remote their accommodation was, Ryan had been diligently keeping his bag locked.

You might think this would have caused Bek some suspicions as to the contents of the bag, and Ryan probably thought so too when Bek asked him why the heck he was doing that, but he had an airtight cover story – to make sure nobody would steal his undies. Ok, surely now, Bek figured that something was up. Nope.

Hands up if you’ve figured out what was in Ryan’s bag yet?

Someone who definitely knew what Ryan was up to was Bek’s sister Sarah, because what better way to find out your future wife’s ring size without arousing suspicion than to just ask her identical twin? So they’ve hiked to the top of a beautiful Queensland waterfall for Ryan’s proposal. Neither of them like being the centre of attention, so despite the risk of a sheer drop should he lose his footing, he’s picked a great spot to pop the question.

Now even in light of the worst excuse for locked luggage I’ve ever heard, not suspecting the proposal is one thing. But what really got me was that despite Ryan being on one knee and holding a beautiful sapphire engagement ring, Bek was in utter disbelief at what was going down.

She couldn’t believe it.

She told him to eff off, suggested the ring must be some kind of joke ring, that this was all some elaborate prank. But not because she didn’t think Ryan loved her or wanted to marry her, but because in that moment, it simply felt too good to be true, to have her best friend and favourite person kneeling before her, promising to share every day he has left on Earth with her.

Anyway, here’s a selection of my favourite photos from their gallery, shot by the awesome and talented Felicity Found Photography:
