From a Perth Wedding DJ - My Number 1 Tip For Hearing What You Want to Hear at Your Wedding

As a wedding DJ, it's my job to read the room and know what to play, and when to play it. But a little help from you can go a long way, which is why I ask every couple I work with to keep a list going of everything they want to hear at their wedding. From chilled-out stuff for earlier on to the dancefloor bangers, knowing as much as I can about what you like means we'll be able to get the most packed D-floor possible, and nothing makes for a better wedding than this (and nothing makes me happier as a wedding DJ).

This doesn't mean it's your job to tell me exactly what to play - but there's no such thing as too much information here, even if you think 'there's no way we can play this song at a wedding', you'd be surprised at what works when enough people there want to hear it. My years as a wedding DJ have surprised me time and again to see what a crowd of sharp-dressed people are happy to vibe to, from Slipknot to Sinatra, every wedding is different, and that's what I love about being a wedding DJ!

And requests on the night? Hell yes - I wanna hear it straight from the people on the night, nothing lets me know better what people want to hear than when one of them tells me! I’ve seen so many dancefloors go from great to completely wild after playing a well-timed request, so you make sure to get requests from your guests on your invites, and I’ll make sure they know on the night their requests are more than welcome.

And perhaps the thing that matters most about couples telling me what they want to hear - almost nothing gets everyone on the floor better than seeing the bride & groom up there, even if it isn't exactly their kind of music or even a song they've never heard before. They're there to celebrate you guys, and nothing says celebration harder than DANCING.
